Romania’s foreign policy

So much in the conceptual political sphere as well as in the pragmatic field and in the actions you specify of the exterior politics led by the Government of Romania, complementarity between the approach in the regional plane and the principal target of the integration euroatlantic and European has been consolidated. The cooperation and the interdependence in the regional plane represent a useful exercise considering the participation in the promotion of the common interests and the aspirations on the part of the Europeans and the euroAtlantic ones.
Simultaneously, the experience acquired till now has demonstrated that a series of facts
political, economic, of safety and cultural they can improve from what I install a relatively homogeneous frame, which testifies a certain cohesion and an experencie of common development. In this sense the regions can provide the frame adapted to establish a series of mechanisms of cooperation and probably to contribute to a climate of international safety.
Furthermore, the cooperation in a trilateral format and the crossborder cooperation under the Euro-regions form provide an adequate framework for the development of projects in the most diverse domains.
Romania is a charter member of the World Organization of the Commerce; it has ratified the majority of the codes of the Convention of Tokyo and he has been an active participant in the Convention of Uruguay.
Romania is a signatory of the conventions on Preferential Commerce between the countries in route of development ” the 16 ” and the Widespread System of Preference Comercials between Developing countries.

Treated Association with the European Union

On February 1, 1993, Romania signed an agreement of Association with the European Union being consolidated as the first step in the Romanian management to be a part of the European Union.
This agreement of affiliation has been ratified by the European Parliament, as well as by the parliaments of all the member countries of the European Union.

Then after signing and to come into force the Agreements of Association with the U.E, in 1995, in the Summit of Helsinki, celebrated at the end of 1999, Romania was invited to begin the negotiations with the U.E from 2000.
The Council of Copenhagen of December, 2002, it established the European integration of Romania. Finally on January 1, 2007 Romania entered as member country of the European Union, after having being pushed back in 2004.
He happened to be a member but with diverse objections  on the part of other member countries of the European Union.

“Central Free Trade Agreement- CEFTA”

The Association of Free Commerce of Central Europe, of which members are Poland,
Czech republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Bulgaria, signed in December of 1992 the free-trade agreement, by means of which it was thinking about how to establish a zone of free commerce in a gradual way, for a transitory period that I finish on January 1, 2001.

From the above mentioned date it was not possible to introduce new taxes to the imports in the commerce between the parts and they abolished all the customs taxes. All the member states of this one agreement, they had signed previously treated about affiliation with the European Union, for what the CEFTA it is consolidated as an agreement that prepares to these countries to enter to the European Union.
